Japanese Tattoos
The Japanese tattoo tradition is at least 7,000 years old, therefore there is no dearth of tattoo designs. You can choose anything from samurai to demons to the kanji (a part of the Japanese writing system). Tattooing legendary heroes is especially popular is Japan. But a sometime during the 17th century tattooing became a taboo in Japan and it became punishable to tattoo. The tattoos, however, are undergoing a revival in Japan since the 1980s.
